5 Organic or Naturally-Minded Restaurants in Charlotte

Food
Going out to eat is one of the most difficult things for us to fully enjoy since we started eating foods without harsh chemicals and pesticides. It does not help that kids LOVE going out to eat because I am sure it would be easier to avoid.  Since we like going out and taking the kids out to eat, we do have to compromise in some of the choices because there are only a few restaurants that are organic. Unfortunately, with the organic label comes a higher price. Yet, for us we choose quality over quantity, meaning there is nothing more important than our health. I chose to share a brief list of restaurants in Charlotte, NC that are organic, as close to naturally-minded as possible, or serve foods that come from local sources. Check…

Fight the Flu Naturally and Quicker

Food
This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission from some of the links provided in this post. Unfortunately, I have been hearing that the flu has been hitting Charlotte pretty hard. Just this past month, several schools had some classes where more than half of their students were out because of the flu. Typically it seems that when you hear that word, people start to panic.  That is exactly how I was when I  became a mom in 2010 (technically 2009). Now, being a mom of four and having dealt with the flu in our family last year and about 2 years ago, I have found some natural remedies that have worked for us.  This past year, my husband got hit with the flu and was…

Drop Those Pounds!!!

Food
When will these extra pounds leave?! Who else feels like that when you are eating what you consider to be healthy? This is how I have felt quite a few times. This past January I decided to take a month to eat mainly vegetables and fruits. I still had sourdough bread every so often and eggs, but I did totally cut off the following: rice grits meat sugars (I did continue to use maple syrup and honey). pasta My purpose was to eat as close to a plant-based diet as possible because I know that is one of the healthiest ways to eat. After about three weeks, I begin to notice that I was slimming down. I was once again able to get into clothes that I could not fit…

Eating Organic Food is Crazy!

Food
Anybody out there feel like people think you are crazy because you chose to change your lifestyle when it comes to living organically as possible? When my family and I first started this journey, we definitely got looks and questions, and mainly from relatives. It seemed that we were labeled as snobs  from others because we chose to change our lifestyle.  Though it did not hamper us from transitioning to an organic lifestyle, it definitely was an experience feeling like we had to yield to interrogations as to why. What I have learned since then, and I hope to encourage you if you are experiencing that with relatives is, you do not have to make explanations for anyone. The journey was pretty difficult for us to navigate in the beginning because we had…
