Drop Those Pounds!!!

Food
When will these extra pounds leave?! Who else feels like that when you are eating what you consider to be healthy? This is how I have felt quite a few times. This past January I decided to take a month to eat mainly vegetables and fruits. I still had sourdough bread every so often and eggs, but I did totally cut off the following: rice grits meat sugars (I did continue to use maple syrup and honey). pasta My purpose was to eat as close to a plant-based diet as possible because I know that is one of the healthiest ways to eat. After about three weeks, I begin to notice that I was slimming down. I was once again able to get into clothes that I could not fit…

Anybody out there feel like people think you are crazy because you chose to change your lifestyle when it comes to living organically as possible? When my family and I first started this journey, we definitely got looks and questions, and mainly from relatives. It seemed that we were labeled as snobs  from others because we chose to change our lifestyle.  Though it did not hamper us from transitioning to an organic lifestyle, it definitely was an experience feeling like we had to yield to interrogations as to why. What I have learned since then, and I hope to encourage you if you are experiencing that with relatives is, you do not have to make explanations for anyone. The journey was pretty difficult for us to navigate in the beginning because we had…

10 Valentine’s Day Budget-Friendly Ideas

10 Valentine’s Day Budget-Friendly Ideas

Faith, Family, Food
This year you can celebrate Valentine's Day without breaking the bank and without compromising on food choices. Here are 10 tips to help you save money and still have a FUN holiday! These tips are not just for couples, but some of them can be applied to families as well. 1. Make dinner at home! Buy your ingredients a week or more before, especially when they are on sale. Keep it simple, yet elegant and of course organic. 2. Get Creative with Your Flower Arrangement! Instead of the typical dozen roses, go to a local flower shop and ask if they have any specials. Quick & Easy Meal for SUPERBOWL

Food
Are you READY for the SUPERBOWL?! Ok so I am not the biggest football fan out there, but I do like the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Panthers. Unfortunately, neither team made it to the Superbowl this year, but we will probably watch some of the game nonetheless. Marcus and I tend to make appetizers for dinner every Superbowl whether we watch it or not. This year we decided upon a quick, but yummy organic meal that is loaded with nutrients. I chose the 7 Layer Bean Dip! Not only is it SIMPLE to make, but its VERY cost effective for the grocery budget. Here's the recipe I will be using today. Your family and friends will LOVE this QUICK meal! Total spent on this meal for our family was around…
